"Melancholy" by Edvard Munch

Introduction

Part of the Expressionist movement in painting, Edvard Munch several works that explore human emotions and psychology. He produced "Melancholy" in the late-19th century, exhibited it for the first time in Oslo in 1891. The landscape is a depiction of Asgardstrand's beach, a location Munch frequented during the summers in this period.
