J. Garvey Pyke, Ph.D., has been the director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at UNC Charlotte since 2013 and leads the CTL in providing and supporting the enterprise level academic technologies and faculty professional development programs regarding high quality instruction, scholarly teaching, and distance learning. He has served as the president of the University of North Carolina Faculty Developers Consortium, a statewide group for all 17 member campuses of the UNC system, and has served on the steering committee for the Online Learning Consortium (OLC) Innovate Conference and Accelerate Conference as well as being co-director and as faculty with the OLC Institute for Emerging Leadership in Online Learning (IELOL). He holds a doctorate from Indiana University's School of Education in Instructional Systems Technology.
