Danielle Oprean

Danielle Oprean, Ph.D., is an assistant professor in the School of Information Science & Learning Technologies (SISLT) at the University of Missouri. Danielle holds a Ph.D. in Human Environmental Sciences and a Masters in Architectural Studies from the University of Missouri and a Masters in Engineering Technology and Bachelors in Digital Media Visualization from East Tennessee State University. Before joining SISLT, Danielle held a joint Post-Doc position at Penn State University with the Stuckeman Center for Design Computing in Architecture and Landscape Architecture and Chorophronesis in the Geography Department. She uses her interdisciplinary background to focus primarily on user experience through immersive technology and how that impacts learning – particularly embodied place-based learning. Her research draws from Human-Computer Interaction, spatial cognition, and the learning sciences to better understand the design, development, and implementation of immersive technology in both formal and informal learning settings.
